Unveiling the Enigma of Damien Hirst

Damien Hirst is one of the largest figures in the contemporary art world, consistently pushing boundaries and challenging preconceived notions.

The Empress Series is the pinnacle of his artistic exploration. Each piece symbolizes nuances of life, death, and the ephemeral nature of existence. Hirst’s works reflect his infatuation with mortality; this series in particular displaying the dance between beauty and decay, challenging viewers to confront the inevitability of impermanence.

This series by Hirst exemplifies a universal language, transcending geographical boundaries to prompt introspection into the essence of human existence. There are five pieces in the series, Wu Zetian, Theodora, N r Jahn, Suiko and Taytu Betul, all of which are etched in different culture’s and dynasties literatures, including Japan, Ethiopia, the Mughal Empire and the Tang Dynasty. The entire collection is an ode to time travel, to mortality, to beauty and change, extending far past art’s traditional confinements.

Damien Hirst is a top seller of DTR Modern Galleries, and we are eager to obtain new pieces in diverse collections of his, as well as display, sell and consign pieces for each of our gallery locations. His work is currently on display at DTR Modern SoHo, Boston, Palm Beach and DC.
