The Villager pauses to take a closer look at the ‘resolutely magical’ work of Marc Chagall, as quoted by Andre Breton. Chagall stands as a “luminary that simply transcends. His ethereal and dreamlike compositions have left a permanent imprint on the world of art, not only through the brush stroke or in the poetic unraveling of memory, but most importantly, in magically capturing the ineffable essence of the human experience” (A. Bellos, p. 23).

Chagall mastered in lithography, a printmaking process that gives the artist the autonomy to create exquisite details, delicate lines, and intricate patterns, the perfect canvas for Chagall’s imagination. As described in detail in the article, Chagall used this technique to create some of the most popular lithographic series in art’s history.
