Igniting a Renaissance: Belin

As seen in The Villager on November 24th, 2023. Article by Avalon Bellos

BELIN is noted as an artistic prodigy in this week’s artist spotlight. BELIN, born Miguel Ángel Belinchón Bujes in 1979, grew up in Andalusia. An area of rich culture and talent, his journey as an artistic began with graffiti throughout the streets of Linares where he fell in love with urban art.

Over time he advanced past the traditional aspects of street art and developed his own style, “a symphony of the tangible and the ethereal, a harmonious dance between classical realism and surrealistic innovation” (Bellos, P. 17).

BELIN utilizes the city walls as his canvas, painting incredible murals throughout Paris, Miami, Milan, Medellin, Barcelona, and San Juan. His murals containing messages in each brushstroke, each facial feature telling a different story or emotion than the next. His art is kinetic, moving, living, breathing, and “with each line, he writes a chapter in the chronicles of art’s resurgence, and the narrative is far from conclusion” (Bellos, p. 17).

His work is on display at DTR Modern SoHo, Boston, DC and Palm Beach.
