September 2023 in Vienna, Austria: Hunt Slonem

We are eager to announce the world-renowned contemporary artist and a true favorite of DTR Modern Galleries, Hunt Slonem, has a solo exhibition, “The World of Exoticism,” on view in Vienna, Austria from September 2nd, 2023 to the 22nd.

The exhibit is held at the Kunstforum Wien Museum, debuting his iconic motifs and rhythmic designs of birds, bunnies and butterflies. Alongside the colorfully playful but simplistic characters that we all know and love, are his portraits of Abe Lincoln and Queen Elizabeth, similarly designed in reds, purples, blues and textured techniques that elevate each portrait off of each canvas.

“Beauty is an ideal state. Hunt Slonem's paintings are also created in this spirit. Even if his visual vocabulary follows a conscious reduction, these representations in particular are characterized by a playful precision. There is a continuity in space and time. Beauty expresses itself in many different ways: in the form of an art game, as an aesthetic illusion or even encrypted in an exotic appearance.”

Hunt Slonem has been represented by the most prestigious galleries and museums around the world, while showcasing work in hundreds of solo and group exhibitions over the years and annually at DTR Modern, and further holding space in the homes of the most well-known and elitist societal members.

We have been working with the legendary Hunt Slonem since we opened DTR Modern Galleries, which was just over twenty years ago. Through a gratifying partnership with Slonem, he has remained our top selling artist across our five gallery locations and we celebrate his talent daily. Each gallery honors his work with a dedicated bunny wall, or an array of birds and butterflies lighting up each corner, both in which we elevate monthly with newly consigned pieces from Hunt’s studio, from all colors, sizes, shapes and portraits.
