Playing with light and dark, artist Joel Amit pushes boundaries of the third dimension. Featured in this week’s article of The Manhattan Express, we discover the ins and outs of Joel Amit’s creations and process. Joel Amit is an Israeli artist who takes his artwork to its limits with his natural shapes and exquisite sense of light and shadow. His work can be classified as “kinetic” art, or the art of movement.

As a well-trained architect with a deep reverence to nature, he spent five years in the Negev desert building structures and local villages. During this time, he immersed himself in the textiles, plastics, and other materials that furthered his journey to the visual arts.

Employing his architectural passion and kinetic skill to transform metal objects into breathing beauty. The “pixel art” he creates is meant to focus on the “power of many” as he engages his viewers in the process of juxtaposition.
