Dan’s Papers Cover Artist Bisco Smith: Cypher of the Brooklyn Beat

As seen in the Dan’s Papers Magazine published November 26th, 2024

Dan’s Papers features DTR artist, Bisco Smith and his recent SoHo exhibition, ‘INNERSTATES’ on the cover of their latest paper edition. The paper emphasizes the unmistakable rhythmic energy that Smith brought to DTR Modern’s gallery space at 458 W Broadway, on the night of October 26th. The article further dives into Smith’s relationship with graffiti from began at a young age in the streets of Brooklyn, New York. Smith speaks to his passion for painting; “it’s in the moment, off the cuff, instinctual. It’s about the beat, the movement. The energy is what makes it real.”

Bisco Smith continues to progress through the art world, leaving his mark with slashes of black, white and blue spray paint. As his work gains international acclaim, with collaborations from Nike to Adidas and installed across critically acclaimed collectors’ homes, “his style remains raw, unapologetically street, but with sophistication that could only come from a lifelong dedication to the craft” (Dan’s Papers, 11/26).
