Event Highlights: Opening Reception and Scholarly Engagement

Bisco Smith’s approach extends beyond the visual, engaging audiences through intellectual discourse and reflective dialogue. To honor this ethos, the INNERSTATES exhibition will open with a two-day program designed for meaningful interaction:

• Opening Reception: Thursday, October 24th, 6 PM - 9 PM – Attendees will experience an immersive walk-through of the collection, with an opportunity to converse directly with the artist about his process and the underlying themes of the work. To mark this event, the first 50 guests will receive a limited signed edition (unframed), offering a rare opportunity to acquire a piece directly from the artist.

• Artist Talk & Guided Tour: Saturday, October 26th, 1 PM - 3 PM – Bisco Smith will lead an in-depth discussion and tour of the gallery, examining the intersection of street culture, abstract expressionism, and contemporary socio-political commentary within his work. This session will provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the narratives and artistic methodologies that define INNERSTATES.

BISCO SMITH (b.1980) is an American contemporary urban artist whose work is characterized as a blend of graffiti deconstruction, abstract gesturalism, action painting, and style writing. His technique involves energetic, expressive brushstrokes that reflect the flow of music and translates the consciousness of the moment into painted lyrics and abstract black and white works of art.

Bisco believes that art is energy transmitted through various mediums, and as such, the artist becomes the conduit. He aims to bring a good intention to all his paintings in hopes that the energy will continue to resonate wherever the art lives. His art captures the unseen rhythms of music, the untamed energy of a moment, duality, and good intentions.
